Simple Ways To Save Your Eyes From Smartphone Strain

Because the eye is such a delicate organ, it must be treated with extreme caution in all that it is exposed to. Undoubtedly, the technological era has brought forth a plethora of new items and gadgets, but none of them exist without coming into direct contact with our eyes.

When your eyes strain from prolonged, intense use—like prolonged driving, reading, or computer work—it is called eye strain. Eye strain is the term for any discomfort or pain in the eyes that results from prolonged staring at an object. These are some tips to prevent smartphone strain on your eyes.

1. Blink, blink, and blink some more:
Frequently blinking (for longer than a second) keeps your eyes wet and lessens irritation and dryness. When we gaze lovingly at our precious smartphone screens, we tend to blink about one-third less than we normally would, depriving our poor eyes of tears that would shield them.
You should be fine if you keep your eyes moist by blinking ten or so times every twenty minutes or so. Bonus: Blinking frequently aids in eye refocusing.

2. Reduce glare:
Unless you use a matte screen protector film or have an anti-glare Corning Gorilla Glass on your smartphone, you probably have to deal with a fair amount of irksome reflective glare.
The solution is simple and affordable: Invest in an anti-reflective coating and apply it (gently) to the screen of your smartphone. On Amazon.com and in the majority of stores owned by mobile service providers, they cost roughly $1 to $20.
Bonus: Fingerprints are deterred by anti-glare screen protectors.

3. Take a break:
That may seem frightening, but your eyes are going to enjoy it. You've undoubtedly heard of the 20-20-20 rule by now.
The idea is to look at an object 20 feet away for 20 seconds every 20 minutes to take a break from staring at your screen.
By doing this, you can relax your eye muscles and have plenty of time to think about the next exciting iPhone or Android app you want to play with or your laptop screen.

4. Change the brightness: Too bright or too dark of a screen can strain your eyes and make it difficult for you to stay focused.
Just go into your smartphone's settings and adjust the screen brightness to make it roughly equal to the light levels in your surroundings to quickly resolve either issue.
It should be noted that unless you're squinting at your smartphone in bed in the dead of night, this can incidentally result in insomnia and less sex.

5. Modify the text size and contrast: Changing the text size and contrast on your smartphone also offers some much-needed relief. It facilitates reading emails, calendar entries, web content, and anything else on your phone.

6. Maintain a clean screen: To get rid of distracting dust, grime, smudges, and fingerprints, routinely wipe down the screen of your smartphone with an air-dry (not wet!) cleaning cloth.

7. Raise your smartphone a little bit farther away: It doesn't need to be completely down. The majority of people typically hold their phones only eight inches away from their faces. Not favorable. To give your eyes a rest, try placing your phone or laptop somewhere between 16 to 18 inches away. Although it might seem strange at first, getting used to it shouldn't take too long.
